Elgin Chardonnay vs New World Chardonnay

Viticulturist Kevin Watt will greet guests on arrival with an introduction to our chardonnay vineyard followed by a brief discussion by South Hill winemaker, Sean Skibbe, on the unique terrior of the eastern Elgin Valley site. Enjoy a glass of South Hill MCC 2008 Blanc de Blanc served with a selection of delicious Asian tapas from Black Bamboo.

Enjoy a four-flight tasting of New World chardonnays from California, Australia, New Zealand and Chile versus an introduction to hidden gems from the Neil Ellis Elgin stable featuring the first chardonnay block at White Hall and the wines by Matthew van Heerden presented by winemakers, Warren Ellis and Matthew van Heerden.

A surprise three course lunch with Chef Pellie Grobler from Pretoria's top gourmet restaurant, Black Bamboo will be paired with chardonnays from South Hill, Neil Ellis and Matthew van Heerden.

A decadent affair being held at Iona. Freshly shucked West Coast oysters paired with the newly released Charles Fox Blanc de blanc MCC and Blanc de blanc Champagnes from Taittinger, Gosset and Lallier.

A superb lunch prepared by Rozy Gunn will be paired with a selection of five vintages of the Iona Chardonnay and will be rounded off with specially selected white cheeses to complement Chardonnay.
